What Is It That Blurtit Actually Does?

Answer Question

11 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Blurtit is evolving all the time, but right now the main thing that it does is help people exchange information and ideas.

For instance, if you are interested in finding out more about a particular topic - could be something in history, a type of car, a recipe, all sorts of things - you can try typing in keywords ("Napoleon" or whatever) in the Search window, and you  might get some information if somebody else has already written about that topic. Or if you are interested in a general area - arts, film, the natural world etc -it can be interesting to click on that area on the right of the screen, and just browse.

Best of all, if you have a specific question and can't find the answer  through either of the above methods, you can ask it -as you just have - and with any luck someone will see it and have a go at answering it, as I'm doing with yours. And of course, you might help someone else by answering THEIR question.

Questions have a very good chance of being answered as long as they are clearly phrased (and as long as there's someone around who has that information, of course.)

I would like to mention some of the suggestions I gave in another post over here again:

      1. Publicly viewable profiles: which I see are already there.. yay
      2. My other suggestin of Profiles being little more detailed has also already been implemented... yayyy again.
      3. Members should have the option of contacting each other through email, Private messages or comments
      4. A chat option can be added too
      5. However, if all these features are added, then members should have the option of ignoring and blocking other members too.

Previously there used to be a link, in fact two separate links that appeared under the main link of "My Answers". One of them was "My approved answers' and the other one was "pending answers".

The same goes for the MY questions link.

those have disappeared. Or am I unable to find them?

Those were quite useful and if you have removed them I would request you to but them back on. RAther you can add four separate sub links under the main "my questions" and "my answers" links.. these can be:

      i. My approved questions / or answers
ii. My preapproved questions / or answers
iii. My pending questions / or answers
iv. My disapproved questions/ or answers

I hope you do take notice of this suggestion. It will prove to be helpful for all of us blurters.

also the link "Answer Q for paid" and "Paid Q & A" should appear on pages other than our control panel too.

      Thank you :)

Thank you for your suggestions, by the looks of things the whole approval system needs a restructure to make it simplier and faster to use.

I have another small suggestion to make. Ok I admit I ask for a lot, but come on you invited the suggestions so they are coming :)

I was wondering if you could add a "new comments" link in the control panel. Because you see, I like reading the comments that I get on my answers (And I am sure there are other blurters like me, who like getting comments and would want to read them). Now in order to read them, I have to go through all my answers to see where a comment has been left by someone. My suggestion is that in the control panel we can have a link that should say New Comments (give no. of new comments), for example "you have 2 New comments".  The "new comments" link should take us to over answers that have unread comments on it.

Or if that is not possible, then perhaps we should have a link that says, "comments" and it should show all our answers with comments on them, regardless of whether we have read them previously or they are unread.

Everything. If you have any questions you would like to ask just go ahead. Its great because you don't know the people and have no need to worry about them judging you.

I would definitely want to see drastic changes in filtering the debates, some are very absurd debates, i don't want specify the debates, some are repeating the same debates, by changing the words.

This is primarily and question and answer site.  Any member can ask a question, and other members supply answers. Advertisers are the source of revenue for the site.  Blurtit expanded the functionality of the site in early 2007 to also allow group interaction between members on nearly any topic of interest,  and also provided a debate section so members could debate various topics.  Another feature is the shout (message) boxes on member profile pages, which members use to stay in touch with one another.  The debate section was just recently suspended, but the other functions remain.
