Travelling from Stornoway to the Callanish Stones can be accomplished in a number of ways.

Firstly, there is a Galson Motors bus service which operates six days a week, leaving from Stornoway bus station and thence to Leurbost, Achmore, Lochganvich,Garynahine and then the Callanish Stones. The bus journey takes half an hour, leaving from Stornoway Bus station at 9.10 am, 10.10, 12.45, 14.30, 16.00 and 18.00 Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, the bus leaves at 09.10, 12.45, 15.00 and 18.00.

Alternatively, you can go by taxi, but this may prove expensive or hire a rental car from one of the many car hire firms in the town of Stornoway. Car hire prices are reasonable, though the choice of vehicles may be more limited than you are used to.

During the summer months there are tourist coach excursions that take in the Callanish Stones. The telephone number for Callanish Visitors Centre is 01851 621442.
