1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Paralympics are conducted by the International Paralympic Committee (abbreviated as the IPC). They are held once every four years. The Summer Paralympic Games were first held in 1952 at Stoke Mandeville in the United Kingdom and the last completed edition was held two years ago at Athens, the capital of Greece. The first edition of the Winter Paralympic Games took place at Ornskoldsvik, Sweden in 1976 and the last completed edition was held in 2006 at Torino, Italy. Future editions of the event will take place in Beijing, China in 2008, Vancouver, Canada in 2010 and London, England in 2012. Beijing and London are venues of the Summer Olympic Games in 2008 and 2012. Sochi (Russia), Salzburg (Austria) and PyeongChang (South Korea) are the three cities in contention for the opportunity to host the 2014 edition of the event.
