Dogs usually get heat after every six months. Some breeds get one heat cycle per year. Dogs can get their first heat cycle at the age of 4-18 months with average 6-8 months. Canine heat cycle can last for 3 weeks. Vets recommend not to breed your dog until the age of 2 years because some fitness tests are possible at this age.
