What Is MS Word?

Ms Office is application software that contains various programs that are being used all over the world for different types of personal and official purposes. MS word is an advanced windows-based word processor. Microsoft words provides facilities like bookmarks, auto text, auto table, links, pictures, symbols, video clips, header and footer, footnote, fonts, borders, shading, columns, spell checker, grammar checker, auto correct, thesaurus, table, insert or delete rows and columns etc. Its auto recover feature automatically saves your work after a pre-defined amount of time. It also creates backup copies of all your documents.

Software packages like word perfect, word star and MS word are examples of word processing packages for personal computers .The best of these is MS Word because it provides some extra features such as:

The latest version of Ms Word has extra functionalities like macro and speech. In speech there is no need for keyboard. User is just required to speak to insert data through mic and on recognition of the voice it automatically writes the words, though this feature has not been widely used due to its less accuracy.

It was first emerged in 1983 and even at that time, it got much popularity. It is an application of MS office. The major file formats supported by MS Office are .Doc, and .RTF. This is a very rich featured application by MS Office and provides so many facilities to its users but as we know that, there is always the other side of a coin. So, in case of MS office, no doubt, it is very much efficient in processing but there are also some demerits. In fact, they are not demerits, but there are few problems we might face while working with such files. The major problem is that within one file if we want to have numbering (Bullets and Numbering) in more than one format, then this is absolutely impossible. And we even cannot restart our numbering within a same document. And this application software is not able to work with a large variety of file formats. Until now, there are many versions of MS office, Ms Word as well, has been introduced in the market, and they are widely being used by users. The latest version has just been introduced in this year and i.e. 2007.
