    The Agapanthus is classified as Magnoliophyta under Kingdom Plantae. They belong to the Class Liliopsida and Order Asparagales. It belongs to the Family Alliaceae. Plants that belong to this Family flower throughout the year. Agapanthus is a flower of South Africa and is called African lily. I t is also called the flower of love.

    The stems of these flowers are short with long arching leaves. The flowers are funnel-shaped with large heads and broad leaves. The umbels of the flowers have a diameter of twenty centimeter or more. Each umbel has thirty to sixty flowers. Some other Agapanthus species have eighty flowers on each umbel. But, the diameter of individual flower is 4 -7 inches. Each flower has 'six' petals. But, some flowers of Agapanthus like the 'Blue Giant' have more than six petals.The leaves are ten to thirty-five centimeter long with a breath of approximately two centimeters. The central stalk of the flower is 25-60 cm in length.
