What Family Does The Flatworm Belong Too?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are various levels into which an organism is classified starting from a very general to a specific classification. It progresses from kingdom, sub kingdom, super phylum and then phylum. Flatworms belong to the kingdom Animalia because they are multicultural and eukaryotic. They belong to the sub kingdom Eumetazoa because they possess true tissues that are organized into germ layers. They belong to the super phylum of Platyzoa and the phylum Platyhelminthes and include all flatworms. The characteristics of this phylum are that these organisms are invertebrates and soft bodied. They do not have specialized systems like circulatory and respiratory systems. The phylum has four classes within it which are monogena, Trematoda,Cestoda and Turbellaria. One important thing is that by flatworms we do not mean a specific organism rather all the organisms that are part of the phylum Platyhelminthes.
