    A channel of distribution is the major part of the supply management chain of an organization. It can be considered as the medium through which the goods or services can be distributed to the customers. For example, there are various channels of distribution like a company can directly sell the goods via mail order, internet or telephone sales. Secondly, an agent can be a channel of distribution who typically sells on the behalf of the manufacturer. Thirdly, wholesalers or retailers are also come under the categories of channel of distribution. Channel of distribution can actually appear as a major competency for a company and it can become a major strength or a weakness for the company.
