How Come There Aren't As Many Vets As There Are Doctors?

I'm not sure if that is true but it seems that way because you never here people say, 'I'm going to the vet today!' I think we need more vets in the United States.

Vets cost money at every visit which may be one reason why people don't go unless they have to.  Also, humans are a very numerous species and so there is more work for doctors than there is for vets, hence more doctors.

Vets don't get paid as much as most human doctors for the most part but work just as hard and have to go through a lot to get the title DVM and pay for all the schooling and then deal with all the people and it can be really sad and really break you down to watch what people inadvertently put their pets through because they'd rather not spend the money at the vet. Most people make it to the doctor before they die or are nearly so or run to the doctor at the first sign of something that they will put off it's their pet thinking it is somehow different or will get better. It can really wear you down very quickly and most people work in a clinic first and often change their minds after seeing what it's really like and what it does to you since your only there in the first place due to a love of animals. There's a lot more but you'd have to be there. :-)
