First, make sure you are wearing gloves if you are transplanting a cactus. Put soil is clay pot, (best for cactus as it breathes is pourous), add soil, gently place cactus and add more soil to help it stand. Then add sand or similar crystals. Watering is few and far between. I have had some cactus topple over because of over watering, oh by the way, thanks gotta go water cactus down the hall
