When people stand in front of a group however it is a different story. What should i do with my hands? They ask. The answer is simple use your hands naturally, the way you would in conversation. Speaking in from of a group is not radically different from speaking one to one. Some people gesture quite a bit, while other people gesture less. The important thing is to be yourself. Do not se stylized or artificial gesture. Instead gesture naturally as you would if you were not in front of the group. You might for example describes a size or shape emphasizes an important point, enumerate a list or point to a specific item.

On the other hand does not gesture nervously avoid for example tugging at your ears, scratching your arms or licking your lips.  Once you are aware of nervous gestures either by seeing yourself on video or receiving feedback from your instructor or classmate you will probably find it relatively easy to get rid of them. Finally do not use any one gesture repeatedly or stay locked in any one hand position.  Along with relaxing to gesture naturally fell free to move your whole body as well. You might move to change the mood pace, to draw attention to your visual aids to make a transition.
