How To Cite In Papers?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is no universally accepted style of citation in scholarly literature. Different institutions may exhibit their own preferences. Certain styles have come to predominate without particular scholarly fields, however. APA style, which was created by the American Psychological Association, and which covers more than merely citation, dominates the social sciences field. You can find information about it here :

Another popular style is MLA which was created by the Modern Language Association of America and is widely used within the humanities. You can read about it here :

    www.mla.org

AMA, created by the American Medical Association, is used in the literature of medicine and biological science.

Turabian style, created by Kate Turabian, who was a secretary at the University of Chicago in the mid 20th century, is often used by students preparing essays.

Although some information about all of these styles can be gleaned from the internet, the full contents of the style guides are, in most cases, only available through purchasing a hard copy book.
