Can Yoga Help Keep You Well?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yoga reputedly has many positive health benefits. Research suggests it can help lower blood pressure, reduce the impact of arthritis which affects the joints, help lift anxiety and depression and reduce the incidence of asthma attacks. There is no evidence that it has a positive impact on life-threatening illnesses such as cancers but it does appear to help people relax, sleep better and worry less. All of these benefits are yet to be proven by large scale research but some studies suggest these outcomes for regular yoga devotees. Always learn yoga from an experienced tutor. Correct posture is vital if you are to avoid injury. Experiment with the different styles of yoga that are now taught and find one which meets your needs. Practice often once you have learned the positions as this is the only way yoga can really benefit your health. A once a week class is unlikely to change anything much at all.
