Where Do I Get Proof Of Citizenship?
I was born outside the US. Mother not a citizen but father was. Lost contact with both. Don't have any paperwork proving either. Moved out of state and need proof to change drivers license. Where do I get proof? I've been in US for nineteen years.

Even if you were naturalized, you would still be a US citizen.
You would know if you had been naturalized as the avenue to gain your citizenship, as it requires taking an oath and a test.
Most individuals become U.S. Citizens either by birth, which means they were born either within the territory of the United States or to U.S. Citizen parents, or by naturalization, which is a voluntary process in which an oath is taken. In addition, the Child Citizenship Act permits any child under the age of 18 who is adopted by a U.S. Citizen and then immigrates to the United States to acquire immediate citizenship, even if only one parent is a US citizen.. So if you were born to a US citizen, even if outside the country, and came here before age 18, you would be considered a US citizen. As far as proof of same, it will be best to contact the INS office nearest you for advice on obtaining the documentation you need. Here is the website to the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the US, where you can find many more answers and info, including contact information. INS also has a genealogy service and can help locate and provide records. Good luck to you. www.uscis.gov

If you were born in the USA and your parents are USA Citizens then you are a citizen! Naturalized is not being born here but fulfilling the requirements to become a citizen.
