What to know which type of degree I am looking for?

An associate degree can usually be earned at a junior college because it takes two years (assuming a full scedule).  A bachelor's degree (BA or BS) is a four-year degree , once again based on a full schedule.

An Associate degree is usually obtained by going to college for two years and completing about 60 credit hours of classes.  A Bachelor's degree takes four years and 120 credit hours.  A Bachelor's degree will open up a lot more career opportunities than an Associate's will.

There is no associate degree. You can get diploma in associate engineering or so. I would suggest you to do a bachelor degree.
