ATP is considered as the energy currency of the cell. It is second to only DNA in importance as far as the evolution process is concerned. It is a complex molecule and concerned with various bodily functions. It is considered as a nano machine with complex processes by which it acts as the primary source of energy currency of the cell. Thus ATP is known as the "most widely distributed high-energy compound within the human body".

ATP is actually the abbreviation of adenosine triphosphate. As per the current knowledge all the living beings on earth from the micro organisms to humans all use ATP as their energy currency.
