Nearly every continent has its own chain of awe inspiring mountains. The Rockies are to North America what the Himalayas are to Asia, the Andes to South America and the Alps are to Europe. They pass through two of the biggest countries in North America, Canada and the United States.
The Rockies run from North to South in the Western United States. From the North they pass through Alberta and British Columbia in Canada and enter America through the Western States of Montana and Idaho continuing all the way down to New Mexico through Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.
The Rockies can be said to extend further till Alaska and Mexico, but those mountains are supposed to belong to the American cordillera and not specifically a part of the Rockies. The Rockies extend between the Liard River in British Columbia, Canada and Rio Grande, New Mexico.
