What Are The Benefits Of Owning A Laptop Over A Desktop?

Obviously, the main advantage of owning a laptop is portability over all else.  They are smaller on size, which means that they can be transported anywhere in the world, they can connect to wireless networks, moving information.  One can watch a dvd on a bus journey, or for some people more importantly, work on the move, this is for me one of the most important benefits.  Long hours of travel no longer have to be wasted, now they are useful, since almost any work can be done traveling, including film and sound editing, word processing etc.

A desk top is a series of pieces of hardware.  Moving this equipment takes time and requires taking the various components to pieces and then reassembling them somewhere else.  This usually takes boxes and or several trips to the new site from the old site.

The obvious disadvantages are size of memory, size of screen, keyboard and limits on servicing the machine. (the machine has to go away to be serviced).
