Walt Whiman was born in May 31 1819. He was famous American poet, essayist, journalist, and humanist. The gay liberation in 1970 highlighted him. I don't think that you can say that his writing was influential because he was gay. However, there is no strong evidence that he was gay. He was just a great intellectual writer.
