Are we talking about a car battery ??? You can go to an auto shop ex: Kragens or call one up and if you know the info. On your car...yr/make/model...they should be able to tell you which battery you need and how/what to do.It is not that hard from what I do know. Good Luck to you!

I am not sure if the battery is the problem because you say it won't stay started.  Do you mean it will start, then stalls out?  Usually if the battery will start the car it should have enough chrge to supply the small amount of current needed to run the engine after start.
Have the battery tested by a reputable shop before you buy a new battery and tell them how the car is behaving first.
The battery should be fairly easy to remove.  There will be a bolted mechanism to remove first which is usually quite simple. Wear gloves.  Then remove the ground cable first usually marked with a minus sign (negative), then the positive.  The hardest part is lifting the battery out of the compartment.  Set it in a cardboard box and put it in the trunk of the vehicle you are using to get to the shop.
You may have to have a dealer or reputable shop check some other things if the battery tests ok or if the battery replacement doesn't solve the problem.
      Good luck to you.
