My Dog Is Having Muscular Weakness And Is Losing Hair? What Is The Problem?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is possible these problems are related.  There are two endocrine diseases that can cause hair loss and muscle wasting/muscle weakness--they are called Cushing's disease and hypothyroidism.

It is also possible these conditions are unrelated.  The muscles weakness may be secondary to arthritis, obesity, or a neurological condition.

Hair loss can be due to dermal parasites, ringworm, allergies, and behavioral overgrooming.

Your dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian.
