What Is A Social Networking Service?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A social networking service is a service which allows users to network for a variety of purposes. Popular social networking websites include MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, and Windows Live Spaces.

A social networking website usually requires registration, and once a user has created an account, they will be able to start adding friends to their profiles.

Social networking websites are a good way of keeping in contact with friends and family, meeting new friends and some can even be used for blogging and sharing photos with other users.

Many social networking sites will allow users to join or create groups so that they can interact with other users who have similar interests.

On most social networking sites, users must create an account in order to view other users' pictures.

There have been many privacy issues with large social networking sites such as MySpace. Users on MySpace can make their profile private if they wish, which means that anyone who is not on their friends list cannot view their profile.
