I Have Laying Hens And I Don't Know Why They Are Losing Their Feathers? I Have Lost 5 Chickens This Week?
Answers
Something may be lacking in the diet of the hens or there may be a problem with parasites. Call your local feed and seed and they will be able to give you some answers.

if you have a rooster or roosters in with the hens they could be breeding them too much which can result in feather loss and also causes the hens to wear down physically - this time of year is especially hard on hens if they are being fought over and breed by multiple roosters

Are the feathers blowing around the yard, or are they missing, and are eggs hatching (if you incubate them?) if the feathers are missing, and there is any sign of the birds picking at each other or canabalizing the dead I would bet that they need protein. Make sure you are using a laying ration rather than 'scratch' and if your local supermarket will sell you fat scraps from trimmed meat, this may help, but also check into parasites, follow the advice above.
