The term 'phobia' came from the Ancient Greek word for fear (fobos). Phobia depicts a number of psychological and physiological conditions that can range from common fears to minor eccentricity to serious disabilities.

Agoraphobia implies an intense fear of specific situations especilly in public, where individuals imagine that they will get an embarrassing event without any intervention of actual help. Agoraphobia usually takes the form of acute fear of public places, open places, traveling, even in aeroplane ~ in single word, they don't feel comfortable out of their home.

Though, till today, scientists are just unable to find any concrete and specific cause behind the development of Agoraphobia, but research suggests that social skills training, exposure therapy and coginitive therapy play a crucial role in the treatment of Agoraphobia.
