How Do I Help Someone Who Is Suffering From Anxiety?

Answer Question

Anxiety is a highly underrated condition. It is assumed that the anxiety attack will pass and the person will become normal again. Unfortunately this is not the case there are individuals who have recurring anxiety attacks and are unable to do anything about it.

The first thing that you can do to help is to slow the pace down. Someone who is anxious is invariably not thinking clearly. He/she will be trying to outthink the situation. You should speak slowly so that he/she can slow down their thought processes. Sit down and analyze his/her behavioral traits when he/her is confronted with these scenarios. Try to point out how their behavior is hurting their chances of handling the situation. Focus on alterative road maps that the anxiety sufferer can make to handle the situation and life in general. Gently convince him/her that the calmer and healthier he/she is the less likely they are to get into difficult situations.

Anxiety is difficult to control when it manifest as a full blown attack.  When that happens try: 1) ice applied to the back of the neck 2)slow deep breathing 3) relaxing every muscle in the body 4) focusing on anything but the feelings such as a card game or ninetindo  game.  Anxiety builds up over a period of time until it breaks out in an attack.  It is best to try to de-stress your life and not let things  get out of control.. Sometimes you need to take a break and get away from stressful situations.  Really learn relaxation techniques such as meditation.
