Credits cards are operated on the basis of a simple retail transaction resolution and credit system. Credit card has a different working system it does not withdraw money from the consumers account after each and every operation, like the debit card. In credit card system, the issuers of the card lend money to the customers.

Credit card is also very different from a charge card, which necessitate on making full payment at the end of each month. Where as a credit card allows the customer to make payments on installment basis though interest is being charged on the amount. Most credit cards have standard sizes and shapes, as defined by ISO 7810.

Since the amount of competition in the credit card industry is quiet high, credit card suppliers often present inducements like flier points, gift certificates etc to get as many customers possible.
