Leif Ericson was a Norse explorer and was born in 970 AD. He is believed to be the first European to have gone to North America. In Vinland, he established a Norse settlement which was known as L'Anse aux Meadows. This is located at the tip of the Newfoundland island which is in Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. Leif Ericson died in the year 1020 AD.
