What Are The Complications Of Sleep Apnea And Anesthesia

I am afraid that I will have to have the tube put down my throat while I'm awake and it will have to stay in a while after I wake up, is this true? I am having gastric bypass.

This is actually a safer method if your doctor chooses to do it this way . I had just seen this done on TV the show called big medicine . If the tube is inserted while awake just remain calm , they do this with numbing spray and mild sedatives for your mouth and throat before you know it , your out and sleeping once it is in . Just close your eyes and stay calm.

Thank you so much for your comment. I had to have this done last summer when I had complications from a ceserean (sp) and it was traumatic. But now I know I have sleep apnea, am in better health and better prepared. It is an awful feeling to have it put it while still awake and wake up with it in there, but maybe myself and the anesthialogist (I am spelling terribly!) being better educated as to my sleep apnea will help!
