What Is The Point Of Books?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

THe point of books is whatever you want it to be. By that, I mean that there are books or other reading matter to suit every need and every taste. You can read for information, for help, to increase your knowledge of a subject that you care about, to help you understand the world better and think about it more clearly; to tell you what others think and help you form your own opinion. These are just a few ideas - there are many more.

Maybe the most important thing to remember is that most people who read a lot, do so for pleasure. Like most things, reading gets more enjoyable as time, and practice, make it easier - once you get to the point of reading fast and with ease, you have a private world that you an take with you everywhere and access whenever you wish.

TV, film etc are wonderful media, but the special, secret ingredient with reading is that you, the reader, are active. A film is offered to you in a complete state - a book needs your active engagement, your imagination, in order to come alive.
