    In recent times the terms "governance" and "good governance" are being more and more used in development literature. Bad governance is being more and more regarded as one of the root causes of all evil lies our societies. Chief donors and international financial aid institutions are increasingly keeping foundation of their aid and loans on the circumstances of "good governance" in a country.


    GOVERNANCE

    The notion of "governance" is not a strange idea. It is as aged as the human civilization. Basically the word "governance" means: the procedure of decision-making and the method by which decisions are applied. Governance can be modified in a number of contexts such as company governance, community governance, global governance, national governance and local governance.

    GOOD GOVERNANCE

    Good governance has 8 main characteristics. Governance can be categorized as good governance if it is participatory, consensus oriented, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and well-organized, fair and comprehensive and follows the regulation of law. It guarantees that corruption is reduced, the viewpoints of minorities are taken into report and that the voices of the weakest populace in society are heard in decision-making. Good governance is also approachable to the present and future desires of society.
