What Was The Battle Of Lepanto About?

Doing some reading on the Crusades and came across a reference to the battle of Lepanto. Where is it? Who was there? I know the Christian fleet won, barely, but what did it amount to in the long run?

    The Battle of Lepanto took place on 7 October 1571.  It was part of the crusades. The battle was a five hour affair and was fought between the Ottoman forces and the Holy Coalition that consisted of Republic of Venice, the Papacy Spain, the Republic of Genoa, the Duchy of Savoy, the Knights Hospitaller. The Ottoman Empire was defeated in this battle and the Holy League took control of the  Mediterranean. For details see the link below:
