There are many reasons to have dark circles or shadows under the eyes. Exhaustion, a vitamin deficiency, such as iron, you could be ill with a mild cold, or very ill with something more serious.
Stress can be a factor, and so can crying. Though there have been many tests on this matter, none of them have been able to conclude exactly WHAT MAKES the eyes do this. If you suffer chronically, (have them all the time), then maybe you should contact your doctor, and see what they come up with, they might run a blood test to see if it isn't due to lack of vitamins or something.
