How Well Received Was The Film Adaptation Of 'The Da Vinci Code'?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The film, like the book, suffered criticism due to the controversial themes within them. The Roman Catholic Church criticised both the book and the film, and the film opened to mixed reviews and protesters.

Despite this though, it ended up being the second highest grossing film in 2006 worldwide, and received a nomination for a Golden Globe Award and also an award for its soundtrack. It also had the 3rd biggest opening weekend for 2006, behind Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and X-men: The Last Stand.

The film only received 24% on the Rotten Tomatoes website and the film was mostly described as boring. The film also received a Razzie nomination for Worst Director. In 2006, it was voted as the 2nd Worst Movie of 2006.

The novel, like the film, did extremely well, despite the criticism.
