The original six is the term used for the six teams which composed the NHL for 25 seasons. The time period was between 1942-43 season. It is a misnomer but is widely used.
The names of the Original Six are as follows:
Montreal Canadiens
Toronto Maple Leafs
Boston Bruins
New York Rangers
Detriot Red Wings
Chicago Blackhawks.
