Because that's the best way of keeping the Church under control. It all goes back to that ultimate spoiled brat, Henry VIII.

Henry Vlll made it a Law many years ago, as King of England. He made himself Head of the Church of England. So any King/ Queens after him are automatically now the Head of The Church ( of England )
