What Country Fell After The Evacuation Of 338,000 Solders During World War II?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The evacuation of 338,000 troops happened during the battle of France, after which it had to surrender to Germany on the 22nd of June in the year 1940. The effective evacuation from Dunkirk greatly boosted the British morale but led to France's downfall.

A monument made out of marble was constructed at Dunkirk, the site of the evacuation, dedicated to the soldiers of the French as well as the Allied army.

The battle of Dunkirk is one of the most important 'what if' questions in the First World War.  If Adolf Hitler did not command the German divisions to stop from the dates 24th to the 26th in May, the withdrawing allies could have potentially been barred from the sea and annihilated.
