Is Red Wine Good Or Bad For Type 2 Diabetic?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Red wine is considered one of the better alcoholic beverages for type 2 diabetics.  It is preferable to white wine, and much better than beer.  Red grapes contain flavanoids and flavonoid-rich foods help prevent oxidative damage when they are consumed.

Other foods that are rich in flavanoids are apples, onions and green tea.  If the diabetic (type 2) individual is sensitive to alcohol or prefers not to drink alcohol, green tea can be a good beverage alternative.

As always, it is best to consult with your doctor about your particular medical concerns as he or she has a better sense of your overall health picture and can suggest appropriate diet and food choices.
