Some goats, such as pygmy goats can make good pets, but they usually have to be kept in pairs, or else they will become lonely and will miss the company of other creatures similar to themselves.
Goats also need quite a lot of room to graze on (up to an acre for a pair of goats) and they will eat anything and everything, so they will need to be kept away from any plants you wish not to be eaten.
Goats have been known to eat the washing off washing lines and some goat owners believe that goats have curious tastes in the sense that if they are NOT supposed to eat something, then they will leap. Jump and climb to get to the forbidden object. Then they proceed to eat it!
So if you have lots of land where you do not mind what is eaten and strong (high fences) then a pair of goats may make really good and quite amusing pets !
