Yes, this is a good decision. People who get violent in relationships don't change, and I know this from experience. My advice is to anyone who is with a violent partner is to get out as soon as they can and never go back.

You made the right decision to move on.  You need to take care of yourself.  This person will not change.  You need to get yourself some therapy as well.  You really need to understand that you have done the right thing and did nothing to cause this.  I am a social worker and want you to know that you are not alone and there are many agencies to help you through this.  You are a brave strong young person!
