What Does Manslaughter Mean?

    Manslaughter means homicide; it is committing murder with the intent of actually doing so. Laws define Manslaughter as criminal culpability, or the murderous state of mind of a person (this state is called Malice), also known as malice aforethought. Manslaughter is broken down in to two categories; Voluntary manslaughter and Involuntary manslaughter.

    Voluntary Manslaughter involves the intention to kill or cause serious harm to the victim however all this is defined by the state of mind of a persons state of mind. One of the most famous examples is known as the 'Heat of Passion Killing', the most common example of this type of killing is, finding a spouse in the arms of a lover.

    Involuntary Manslaughter is where the murder is done by an accident or unintentionally.
