Scientifically, the technology for human cloning is already developed and well researched. Scientists have succeeded in cloning other species like sheep, pig and mice and following the same procedures it is very much possible to clone a human being.
The attention of the world was drawn to the first cloned ewe, Dolly in the year 1997, and raising admiration on the one side and condemnation on the other, towards scientists at the Roslin Institute who cloned the first successful animal of the world. The concept used by the scientists was simple and consisted of implanting an enucleated egg with genetic material sourced from a somatic cell.
Even though it is scientifically possible to clone humans following the same method, due to public outcry against this method, no scientists have undertaken this venture so far. However, there is a section of scientists who believe that the cloning technology should be used for the development of stem cells and treatment of damaged human organs.
