My Dog Is 1 And Has Gone Into Heat For The First Time. She Has Changed Dramatically And I Am Afraid It Is Something Else. What's Wrong?

She has really changed since going into heat. She used to follow me around and be very playful. Now she is kind of just laying around and not eating very much. She is very quiet and I am concerned.

Hope you are a female. How moody and generally moody are you when you have a cycle? Kind of like the same thing with her, get her out and get her to exercise some, the moving around is good for emotional health.
Make sure though that where you take her, she is not going to be around male dogs, as they will fight over her, and then there will be some angry owners of male dogs griping about a female in heat.
Often enough, just like you really didn't know what to do about your first cycle, neither does she, so she is going to be "out of sorts" for a while.
Call the SPCA, and see if they will spay her for you, their prices are usually cheaper than a regular vet. Hope this helps, good luck.
