How To Hang A Roman Shade?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Most Roman Shades are custom made. Remember to wear some eye protection gear so that your eyes are not injured during the installation. You will need a measuring tape, screwdriver, drill, scissors and drill bits.

First you will need to decide what kind of installation technique is needed for your shades. There is the inside mount, the outside and the ceiling mount.

In the inside mount you will need to hold the head rail level and lower the shade to ensure that it is the right height and the shade clears any problems. You may need to use shimming. While you hold the head rail close to the casement, you should drill some 1/16" pilot holes in the casement via the small circular holes in the head rail. (Always remember that you should never drill pilot holes through any slots in the head rail.)  You can use the 2-inch wood screws for attaching the shades to the window casement. If you have used a shim to level the head rail, then make sure that it is properly in place before you tighten the screws.
