At What Age Do The Chickens Called The Rhode Island Red Start Laying Eggs?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

My Rhode Island chickens started laying between five and six months. They have laid straight through the winter. They make good egg layers, just make sure you have a good laying feed for them. I kept mine on starter feed till they were about four months old, then I started them on the laying feed. I also give them scratch grain feed too.

Usually 6 months old.  Make sure to feed them a high protein lay pellet for the most production.
