What Is The Arches In Glasgow?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Arches is a space under the Central Station in Glasgow.  The Central Station is a train station and the Arches takes up the space of the old railway tunnels.

The Arches is made up of a theatre, club, bar and restaurant.  Originally only a theatre, founded by Artistic Director Andy Arnold, it has grown into one of the most popular places in Europe to hold major club nights, with all the big named DJs visiting at some point in the year.  The theatre has a reputation for bringing cutting edge contemporary work into the public arena, although the Arches Theatre company tends to make fairly traditional work itself.

The bar and restaurant are stylish, and most of the time the staff are friendly, some problems have occurred in the past between theatre and bar, but generally all is good.  Quality of food is quite good, portions range from value for money to not value for money and the waiting times tend to go from quite slow to have I died waiting.
