What Is The Best Small, Non-shedding Dog Breed For A Home With Small Children?
We would like to add a dog/puppy to our home with two small children (ages 4 and 1 1/2). My ideal characteristics in a dog include low- or non-shedding, does not bark or jump up much, a mellow personality, and would enjoy the company of the kids. (A tall order , I know!)

Wow i had this problem last year so i went to a dog specialist the out come was a shiztuh or pomerian (pom pom) sorry prob misspelled. So yes i had to get both. They are both wonderful animals around kids very protective also.

We have a scottie-poo. He is half scottish terrier and half poodle and he never sheds.
Bichon Frises are AWESOME!!! They are like poodles, but way smaller...you know...lots of white hair. Mine is the SWEETEST thing on the planet. His name is buddy. So go try visiting one!

The bichon frisee is a highly intelligent dog and is good with children. They don't shed and are low dander.

Mini-Schnauzer's and / or Poodles do not shed. Both are easy to train, great w/ kids , do not need alot of exercise , do well in small homes or apartments and do not shed. Both are "non-allergic" dogs too. Meaning , most people w/ allergies can tolerate these 2 breeds without any allergy problems. We have a mini-schnauzer and could not be more satisfied !
