Latin is mostly referred to as 'Indo-European' or interestingly 'associated with the ancient Roman Empire'. During the ancient, medieval and renaissance periods, Latin was the most extensively used language by the educated at the time. Latin work refers to activity initiated by artists of Latin origin or work in the language. The term 'Latin' is associated with most of the surviving art and craft of the times gone by.

Latin art is considered the most humanistic of all arts. This is because the art is resonant with the most basic features and natural flavor of the human psyche. It is replete with simple, yet distinct forms and thought. Latin art includes murals, paintings, drawings and sketches, sculpture and prints. The work is so simple to understand and relate to and at the same time, very bold and edgy. This unique combination is what makes Latin art stand apart.

All through the Dark Ages, Latin was the universal language. It was the only medium of communication and contact across the lands and continents. During the Moyen Age, most revolutionary science and culture was segregated and studied within the monasteries. The common language spoken in the monasteries was Latin. In fact, Latin was extensively used by western scholars of the 1800s, to exchange and share important findings and research in science.
