St Patrick's Day is celebrated on the 17th of March each year. The feast of St Patrick's Day is celebrated to honour the patron saint of Ireland St Patrick. He is believed to have lived between 373 and 493. St Patrick's Day is a holiday in Ireland as well as in two provinces in Canada. It is not a holiday but is extensively celebrated in the United States. St Patrick was a missionary who preached in Ireland. He was originally abducted by Irish raiders, returned to England, studied for the priesthood and returned to Ireland. St Patrick's Day is celebrated the world over, in whatever city people of Irish nationality are found a sort of Public feast is held. There is a lot of celebrating with some places feasting for three days and others dyeing their river green.
