Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Ipswich Town Football Club was founded in 1878. They were originally an amateur side and remained that way until 1936 when they turned professional. They were elected into the Football League in 1938 and started out in the Third Division which they won in the 1953/54 season.

Ipswich has had many different managers over it's years, but two that stand out are former England managers Sir Alf Ramsey in the early 1960s and Sir Bobby Robson during the 1970s and early 1980s. Ipswich Town were League Champions under Ramsey in 1962 and FA cup and UEFA cup winners under Robson in 1978 and 1981 respectively.

Ipswich Town Football Club has several nicknames including 'Blues', 'Town' and 'The Tractor Boys'. Ipswich play at their home ground of Portman Road which has a capacity for just over 30,000 people.
They currently reside in the Championship division and finished in 15th place in the 2005/06 season. Their manager is Jim Magilton.
