It is set according to the max. Height on an average. I think all the pictures are hanged over 6 feet so that every one could clearly see it.

Hang the pictures at an "eye" level that is comfortable to the majority. To test, cut paper to the size and shape of your pictures, and hang them with straight pins, or sewing pins. This also allows you to decide on your arrangement and makes hanging groupings much easier. Also, consider HOW the pictures will be viewed. Will you spend most of your time sitting or standing? Hang your art depending on the use of the space. Most of all, hang them the way it feels good or right to you. By the way, 6' is pretty high for most folks. If you need continuity, either align the bottoms OR tops of art or grouping in the room with tops of furniture or door facings, etc., for an uninterrupted flow.

Pictures in the home should be hung at "museum height", which is between 60" - 66" from the floor, which will nicely allow all heights to enjoy them. Mark the top of your frame at 66", (I like that because my husband is 6'2") and step back to envision the height. It is a good idea to cut paper about the size of your wall art, and then tape it to the wall, especially if you are doing a grouping. This "rule" can be adjusted as needed. For example, if your ceilings are higher than the standard 8 ft., you may need a larger picture/mirror, or a group; or, if your art has a decorative frame that has a crown or decoration that extends several inches above the actual picture or mirror, you may need to take that part above the 66", so that the art will still be at eye level. Remember to allow for the heights of furniture that may sit below; a good rule there is to keep the art about 3-4" above the highest point of your sofa, maybe a little higher for a console table or chest, where the art and the furniture are working together as one "display". These measurements also allow enough area above the art to use a picture light for a more polished look, whether formal traditional, or casual contemporary, and after your first few walls, you're an expert!
